Break-up Movie Review

soloicanthearit:

So he/she dumped you, eh? I’m guessing everything sucks about everything at this point, hm? That whole “life’s not fair” concept is battering your brains into an incessant pulp, and you’re reaching out into the darkness for something to hold tight to as you sink into this Atlanta Ocean of despair. A little dramatic, yes - but we all know that feeling. It’s an attempt to find something to console us, someone to tell us that it’ll all be okay (even if we refuse to believe them), but mainly just something. While sometimes a good friend is a good thing indeed, alone-time/isolation helps, too - but only if it’s spent wisely. That’s where the ye ol’ break-up film comes into place.

But which path to choose?

Ask any of your friends, and they’ll give you a decent list of exceptional films. The main question is, however: will it help? I’m going to review a few of my favorite break-up films in hopes that what little insight I can give will aid you in choosing a film that will do more to help rebuild instead of hinder your current emotional status.

This is one of my favorite posts, but I think I’m going to take the heat off (500) Days of Summer a little. I suppose it really comes down to what relationship you’re leaving. Or maybe because while re-watching it, I knew what to expect. Either way, there’s more hope in the end of (500) Days than I refused to admit at the time I wrote that post.

Still a good read, though.

In the blood of Eden
We’ve done everything we can
In the blood of Eden
Saw the end as we began
With the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
It was all for the union
Oh, the union of the woman, the woman and the man
